Albany Golf Club
Albany Golf Club, about 25 minutes west of St. Cloud just off I-94, is an 18-hole, par-72 municipal course owned by the City of Albany and run as a nonprofit. It opened in the early 1960s, and its layout was later redesigned by John Harris, a Minnesota golf legend who won the 1993 U.S. Amateur and went on to play the PGA Tour Champions. With four sets of tees, it’s a fun and fair test for every level. Albany is a great example of a town investing in its course. In 2021, thanks to more than $250,000 in community donations, it became only the second course in Minnesota to add a Toptracer driving range. The covered, lighted bays have TVs, music and couches, and you can play virtual rounds on famous courses into the evening. In 2024 the clubhouse reopened after a $2.1 million renovation with a new pro shop, the Greenside Grille, and a patio overlooking the ninth green. With men’s and women’s leagues, a junior program, a spring scramble league and lights on the range until 10 p.m., there’s something going on at Albany most days of the season.
