Effective October 24, 2026
MNGolfCourses.com is a directory of Minnesota golf courses, run in Minnesota since 2015. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Information we collect
When you browse the site. Like most websites, our web host automatically records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and the page that sent you here. We use it to keep the site running, secure and fast.
Analytics. We use a web analytics service to understand how people use the site, such as which course pages are popular and how many visitors tap a course’s phone number or website. These reports are about the site as a whole; we don’t use them to identify you.
When you sign up for our newsletter. We collect your email address and, if you choose to give it, your name. See Newsletter below.
When you contact us or send a correction. If you use our contact form, “Suggest an edit” link or email us, we collect what you send, usually your name, email address and message.
When a course claims or promotes its page. If you manage a golf course and claim or upgrade your listing, we collect your name, role, course contact details and the information you submit for your page. Payments, if any, are handled by our payment provider; we don’t store card numbers.
When you share a golfer tip. If you leave a tip on a course page, we collect the name and, if you choose, the town you enter, and publish them with your tip once we approve it. We don’t ask for your email address.
At tournaments using our live leaderboards. Organizers give us team or player names for their event, and those names and scores appear on the event’s public leaderboard. When you enter scores, you can choose to add your email address so the organizer can send you results.
We don’t knowingly collect sensitive information, and we don’t ask for it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use a few to make the site work and to measure traffic. Advertising partners also use cookies, described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the directory still works without them.
Advertising
We show ads to keep the site free. Some ads are served by Google and other third-party vendors.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
Some ads and sponsored placements are sold directly to Minnesota businesses and golf courses. Those don’t track you; they’re simply images and links on the page.
Newsletter
Our newsletter is sent with Mailchimp, which stores your email address and tells us whether newsletters were opened or links clicked. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We never sell or rent our list. Mailchimp’s handling of your data is covered by the Intuit privacy statement.
How we use and share information
We use what we collect to run and improve the directory, answer your messages, fix listings, send the newsletter you asked for, and manage course listings.
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with services that help run the site (our web host, analytics, Mailchimp, ad partners and payment provider), when the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users. If you send us a correction about a course, we may pass the details along to that course to confirm them, but not your contact information unless you say that’s OK. Email addresses entered on a tournament leaderboard are shared only with that event’s organizer.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe, messages for as long as they’re useful for answering you or keeping a listing accurate, course account details while the listing is active, and tournament results online after the event as a record of it. Ask us and we’ll remove your name or email from a leaderboard. Server logs and analytics data are kept for the periods set by those services.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email.
- Opt out of personalized ads using the links under Advertising.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser.
- Ask us what information we have about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing aaron@mngolfcourses.com.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Links to other websites
Course pages link to golf courses’ own websites, booking pages and maps. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the effective date at the top.
