The Legend at Giants Ridge

The Legend at Giants Ridge, in Biwabik, opened in 1997 and was soon named one of Golf Digest’s “10 Best New Upscale Public Courses” in the country. Designed by Jeff Brauer, it winds through tall pines in the Superior National Forest and plays to par 72, stretching to 6,930 yards from the back tees. It’s the more open, forgiving of Giants Ridge’s two courses, with wide fairways and no blind shots, but it saves its drama for the par-3 17th, played over Sabin Lake and named one of the “101 Most Beautiful Holes in America.” It still ranks among Minnesota’s best public courses, sixth on Golfweek’s 2026 list.
